At First Baptist Church, our purpose is simple yet life-changing: to love God with all that we are, to love people the way Christ loves us, and to reach the world by sharing the good news of Jesus. Everything we do—from worship and teaching to serving and sending—is shaped by this calling. We exist to be a church where people encounter God, experience genuine community, and are equipped to live on mission every day.

First Baptist Church joyfully affirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as our statement of faith. It provides a clear summary of what we believe the Bible teaches and serves as a guide for our doctrine, preaching, teaching, and ministry. While the Scriptures remain our sole authority, the BF&M 2000 helps us express our convictions and stay rooted in the historic beliefs of Baptist churches.
At First Baptist Church, ministry isn’t just about programs—it’s about people. Our staff is here to walk with you, encourage you, and help you take your next step in following Jesus. Each team member brings unique gifts and a heart for serving both our church family and our community. We’d love for you to get to know the people who help lead and serve at FBC Silverton.

My name is Nicole Adams and I'm happy to say that I've served as the bivocational Youth Minister at FBC Silverton going on 9 years! Through RockSalt, our Wednesday night community youth group, Sunday School, discipleship programs, and yearly activities, our goal is to know and accept the hope that is found only in Jesus Christ and to bring others alongside us. I'm honored to serve with the people of Silverton, and we'd be happy to welcome you to the fun!

I am Jimmy Burson, Music Minister of First Baptist Church. I like to say I've been the interim for the last 35 years. Music has been one of my passions since I was a young boy and still being able to share and lead my church in worship has been, and continues to be a blessing to me. I also serve as a deacon.

I was born in Silverton and have been a member of FBC Silverton since the days of “Sunbeams”, the toddler Sunday school class of the 1950’s. I was saved at the age of 6 and made Jesus the Lord of my life when I was 21. Gary and I have raised our family in this church and celebrated the salvation and baptism of each of our three children here. Five of our grandchildren also have been baptized here. After 26 ½ years in the Silverton school system, I came to the office of church secretary January 1, 2014 and I thank God often for putting me here, where He wanted me. I am blessed every day by the folks who come through my office on business or just to visit and share what the Lord is doing in our lives.
